LONDON (Diya TV)) — Britain’s Labour Party has sent nearly 100 employees to the United States, where they will try to get out the vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in important swing states as the United States hurtles toward its 2024 presidential election. Among battleground states in which the volunteers will be deployed are North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The volunteers will look to marshal Democratic voters as the US approaches election day on November 5.
The initiative was led by Sofia Patel, head of operation for the Labour Party. Patel appealed to both old and current Labour staffers to take up their free time and travel to the United States. It is an historic push made by international allies, in this case to help the Democrat move on to the presidency. Patel had earlier been involved in US polls by campaigning for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaigns.
“Labour for Kamala” is a spinoff of a Labour Party and Democratic Party relationship, two parties now inextricably entwined by progressive values throughout many decades. While unofficial, and not financed by the Labour Party, the campaign speaks to international interests in the American election.
It reflects the international obsession with the U.S. election, which has British political operatives weighing in to help steer the searing battleground states that will ultimately decide the winner. Labour Party members think their knowledge of campaign strategy may prove crucial in getting out the vote.
Harris has welcomed this support as the battle for swing states remains very tight. Focusing on such important issues as healthcare, economic recovery, and climate change, the Democratic campaign is going full throttle on all resources available to win undecided voters’ hearts. Labour Party volunteers will back canvassing, voter registration drives, and outreach efforts.
