WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Chintan Patel, executive director of Indian American Impact, issued a sharp rebuke of President Donald Trump’s Day 1 executive orders, deeming it “a merciless and planned attack on immigrants.” Patel denounced the policy as unconstitutional in its targeting of vulnerable communities undermining the democratic values of this nation.

“From threatening to end birthright citizenship to opening pathways for mass deportations, these actions strike at the heart of our nation’s principles,” Patel said in a statement released shortly after the executive orders were announced.

Patel highlighted the importance of immigrants to the United States. He noted that such acts imperil not only the immigrants but also the principles that have, throughout history, made this nation a beacon of hope and opportunity.

The Indian American Impact statement stressed a strong resolve to fight such measures, asking for greater mobilization in the community to call leaders to task. Patel said, “The America we believe in does not scapegoat the vulnerable or trample fundamental rights for political gain.

Indian American Impact is a national advocacy organization focused on amplifying the voices of Indian Americans and South Asians to achieve greater representation at all levels of government.
