WASHINGTON (Diya TV)  The India-U.S. CEO Forum co-chaired by India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on Wednesday convened to advance economic engagement between the two countries. The Forum held in Washington D.C. enabled leaders from the private sector to suggest key ideas towards enhancing trade and investment in the targeted sectors.

The event was attended by 16 CEOs and co-chaired by N. Chandrasekaran, Tata Sons Chairman and James Taiclet, Lockheed Martin President, and CEO. This was the third meeting of the forum since it was reconstituted in November 2022.

The meeting saw the CEOs detailing the priority sectors that had been divided into seven working groups focusing on sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, drugs, aerospace, and military. Other areas of engagement included challenges working on certain sectors integrated solutions such as information, and communication technology (ICT) and digital energy and financial services.

The forum also functions as a consultative body to the U.S.-India Commercial Dialogue. Its role is to complement the governmental talk by providing perspectives from the business community on which activities will help them to achieve more interaction economically with the other country.

At the end of the session, Minister Goyal and Secretary Raimondo acknowledged the forward movement of the forum since its last sit-in in March 2023, which was the introduction of the Innovation Handshake initiative and NIHIT (Network for Innovation and Harnessing Investments and Trade), which is a growth-enhancing knowledge platform.

“Today’s discussions demonstrate how crucial it is to encourage the construction of supply chains, especially those relating to strategic minerals,” Raimondo said as the two countries were trying to expand along the focused sectors. There was also a consensus on the increased need for U.S. investment from both sides.
